The Lucky Strokes

Bio

If luck is what happens when hard work meets opportunity, the union of Eddie Roberts & The Lucky Strokes epitomizes that adage. The New Mastersounds’ guitarist and bandleader has a knack for leaning into individual strengths and that sensibility is evidenced through his recruitment of Mississippi-based guitarist and vocalist, Shelby Kemp, who brings a Southern rock grit and candid, nimble songwriting to team up with the Tampa Bay-based Galbraith sisters who possess a simpatico rhythm section chemistry only found within a family bloodline. Powered by the urbane guitar playing and production of Roberts and you have a new tour de force ensemble that makes listeners stop in their tracks the same way Roberts did upon hearing the talents of Kemp and the Galbraith Sisters. The quartet first teamed up to perform Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom’s 20th Anniversary party in Denver, CO, and recorded a full-length record at Color Red Studios the next day to further solidify the newly forged musical connection. The sound is an amalgamation of celebrated country lyricists such as Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and George Jones mixed with the rhythmically driven aesthetics of James Brown and rounded out by honest rock ‘n’ roll—a combination slated to make its own luck and take the scene by storm.

Alber Solo & The Firebird Blues

Alber Solo & The Firebird Blues

Alber Solo & The Firebird Blues

Bio

Alber Solo is a soul rocker of a new generation, raised by Albert King, John Lee Hooker and T-Bone Walker, Alber fuses his own Blues influence with his love of classic Funk and contemporary Soul.

Albert Solo, is a contemporary soul. His voice is intertwined between a melodic song and a blues howl seasoned with the touches of his guitar, dancing and dodging the rhythm, as if the essence of Curtis Mayfield and Jimi Hendrix glimpsed in his head like the Mississippi Delta.

Sharing the stage with big names is nothing new for him. New York Dolls, Imperial State Electric, Carlton Jumel Smith, J.P. Bimeni & The Black Belts, Gisele jackson and the shu shu’s trio, Kyla Brox…

As if it were a declaration of intent, “Scream my name” is the name of his debut album, recorded in mid-2015 at Acme Studios (Asturias).
With blues as a premise, from the Delta to Chicago, he is capable of prowling the neighboring territories of soul or funk, as proven by his two albums: “Scream My Name” (2015) and “Lookin’ Good” (2018), with his band The Firebirdblues”.

It sounds like a natural hybrid of both the past and the future of blues. An incredible live artist, Albert Solo has a unique style, his guitar sound is distorted, while his vocal style is morbid and intense.

“Absolute junkie of vintage music and sound”. This is how this guitar virtuoso declares himself, maker of bluesy melodies seasoned with soul and rock n’ roll.

The Bamboos

The Bamboos

The Bamboos

Bio

The Bamboos are undoubted pioneers of Funk & Soul in Australia and their 10th studio album Hard Up is a consolidation of their now 21 years of hard graft in getting Australian Soul music accepted worldwide. Their impact on what would become the now world-famous Melbourne Soul scene is undeniable, blazing a path and inspiring so many to play, record and explore new ideas in Soul, Funk, Jazz and Beats.

The band was formed in 2000 by guitarist / producer / songwriter Lance Ferguson and they were joined by their one of a kind lead vocalist Kylie Auldist in 2007. International attention came quickly and they were the first Australian Funk & Soul act to be signed to an overseas label and then the first to tour the UK and Europe.

They soon evolved from their Deep Funk roots into a more complex blend of modern songwriting with classic soul arrangements, appealing to both purist fans of the genre as much as casual music fans by focusing on what’s important: songwriting, groove and powerful vocals. Along they have blown away audiences everywhere from London to Tokyo to playing in front of 15,000 at Womadelaide.

The list of guest vocalists that have collaborated with the band is testament to the respect they garner with their albums having featured the likes of Aloe Blacc, Durand Jones, Daniel Merriweather, Lyrics Born, Alice Russell and Joey Dosik.

The band has become a staple for soul DJ’s worldwide, particularly Craig Charles on his BBC2 and 6Music radio shows and mix albums. The combination of Lance Ferguson’s guitar and Kylie Auldist’s vocals became familiar to millions in the 2016 global hit “This Girl” by Kungs Vs. Cookin’ On 3 Burners.

Tito Ramírez

EXCLUSIVELY IN ANDALUSIA AND THE CANARY ISLANDS

Bio

Tito Ramírez. After five singles and one Lp published, the long-awaited second full-length album by Tito Ramírez finally arrives, entitled “El Príncipe” (2023, El Volcán Música & Discos Antifaz). His most excellent wickedness returns as a contender for the throne of his own sound universe, deepening and broadening his aesthetic range with new sounds and rhythms previously undeveloped by the artist.

Tito Ramirez’s rhythmic and stylistic melting pot is broad and encompasses Latin music in its different facets, with more Afro-American and Anglo-Saxon rhythms. As he has demonstrated with the two advances: Culpable (Guilty is de bugaloop) and Pal Barrio.

Away from the exercise of style, the personal form of his compositions, and his interpretation, make this album an author’s record. The singer makes different sounds and times his own, turning this album into an extravagant journey through all his influences such as psychedelia, Latin Soul, Garage, Mambo, Boogaloo, R & B, Gospel, etc. The lyrics of his verses are once again somewhat hieroglyphic, and contain many messages hidden in metaphors, although his themes revolve around love, sex, substances… indecision, revenge… power and wealth.

An already legendary album, which surely should not be missing in your library.
